Discover our story
Welcome to First Baptist Church Alvord. We invite you to explore our rich history, our warm community, and our commitment to serving God and our neighbors. Come and see why it truly is "a family thing."

A legacy of faith since 1880
First Baptist Church Alvord, originally known as Nina Missionary Baptist Church, was organized in 1880. With the arrival of the railroad in 1882, the town became Alvord and our community began to flourish. The Women's Missionary Union, established in 1885, played a crucial role in funding a new brick structure in the early 1900s to accommodate our growing congregation. On November 13, 1949, the older building opened, and we officially became the First Baptist Church Alvord. Plans for our current, larger worship building were laid in the 1980s, continuing our tradition of faith and growth.
